CWSP - Certified Wireless Security Professional

SYNOPSIS

Certified Wireless Network Professional’s CWSP (Certified Wireless Security Professional) is a mid-level certification for IT professionals who “understand how to secure a wireless LAN from hackers” and who “know how to protect the valuable information on their network.” Topics on this certification include “advanced processes and techniques for keeping enterprise wireless network data secure.”

Planet3 Wireless launched the CWSP certification in the spring of 2003. In terms of recertification, essentially candidates may either: 1) “recertify by passing the latest version of their current level of CWNP certification within 24 months of the initial date of the latest level of certification earned”; or 2) “maintain a valid CWNP certification status by earning the next level of certification within the CWNP Program within 24 months of the initial date of the previous level of certification earned.” Click here for more details on CWNP’s recertification policy, which is effective April 1, 2003.

Job roles of those pursuing this certification typically include: network administrators, security administrators, systems security practitioners, IS (Information Security) professionals, and other IT professionals with wireless in their titles.

To achieve the CWSP a candidate must pass two exams.
