CNA 5 - Certified Novell Administrator |
SYNOPSIS
Novell’s Certified Novell
Administrator (CNA) 5
certification is meant for entry
level IT professionals who have a
fundamental knowledge of
networking and want to learn the
specifics of Novell networking.
The NetWare CNA 5 program was
introduced in 1998. It is based on
Novell’s NetWare networking
product and, in order to round out
a person’s networking knowledge,
is worth adding to other
certifications such as Microsoft’s
MCSA, CompTIA’s Network+ and
Cisco’s CCNA. The CNA is a
prerequisitefor Novell’s mid-level
certification, the Certfied Novell
Engineer (CNE).
There is no prerequisite to the
CNA certification; however, Novell
strongly recommends individuals
have a CompTIA Network+
certification before pursuing the
Novell CNA. In essence, candidates
should have a good understanding
of network implementation,
support, media, topologies,
protocols, and standards. In
addition, a candidate must agree
to the terms and conditions of the Novell
Training Services Certification
Agreement.
The CNA certification is well
suited to IT professionals who
want to take on job titles such as
junior network administrator,
systems administrator, and help
desk specialist.
Note that a newer version of
the CNA 5 is available, the CNA 6.
The CNA 5 designation is achieved
by passing one core exam.
