SYNOPSIS
Sun’s Certified Systems
Administrator for the Solaris 9
Operating Environment (SCSA) is
meant for system administrators
tasked with performing essential
system administration procedures
on the Solaris Operating
Environment (Solaris OE) and
technical application support
staff responsible for
administering a networked server
running on the Solaris OE. These
candidates should have a minimum
of six months experience as system
administrators to take the first
of two exams required for this
certificationand twelve months
experience for the second exam.
There are no prerequisites for
this certification, although Sun
recommends a deep understanding of
basic Unix and Solaris OE
commands. It is a requirement for
the Sun Certified Network
Administrator for the Solaris
Operating Environment exam.
This certification is well
suited to IT professionals who are
systems or network administrators
in a UNIX environment as well as
to those candidates who want to
form a solid foundation for UNIX
network security.
For candidates who are already
SCSA’s for one of these prior
versions of Solaris OE (2.5, 2.6,
7, 8), they may take one exam, the
Sun Certified System Administrator
for the Solaris 9 Operating
Environment Upgrade Exam, number
CX-310-016, to upgrade to version
9 of the certification.
Sun certification exams taken
after September 1, 2002 are valid
for two (2) years from the date of
certification. Despite the
two-year validity date, Sun does
not presently plan to revoke
certification titles already held
by a professional if the validity
date of a specific certification
has passed.
