TruSecure ICSA Certified Security
Associate |

SYNOPSIS
TruSecure’s TICSA certification
is “designed for computer network
and IT security practitioners who
desire to improve their security
practitioner expertise, as well as
position themselves as
demonstrated and knowledgeable
information security
professionals.” The TICSA, which
stands for TruSecure ICSA
Certified Security Associate, was
introduced in March 2002 and is a
vendor/training-neutral
certification that is worth
achieving on route to more
advanced security-related
certifications suchas (ISC)2’s
CISSP. There is no specific
prerequisite for this
certification; however, normally
"candidates will have two or more
years in information security and
IT experience, and are responsible
for their organizations' primary
systems and networks."
"TICSA certifications are valid
for two years. Re-certification
will require a renewal fee and you
will need to provide evidence of
continuing education (48 hours
within a 24 month period of
approved educational or conference
attendance, or evidence of
equivalent), and a reaffirmation
of the previously agreed to Code
of Ethics statement. Should any
major changes be made in the
certification criteria of an
already held certification,
retesting or update testing may be
required. Watch the TruSecure web
site for updated information."
This certification is well
suited to IT personnel, with
titles such as computer
administrators, network
administrators, audit personnel,
and other IT-oriented
professionals, who want to learn
foundation-level security
knowledge. The TICSA designation
is achieved by passing one exam.
